Welcome to The Pick List. This is the place where i write about the list of my favourite thing according to a certain theme. This time the theme is “Kamen Rider Heisei Period”. Listed below may not contain critically best series, because i pick them according to my personal taste.

After Emperor Hirohito abdicated his throne to his son, Emperor Naruhito, the era of Heisei was ended. Now Japan is in the new era, Reiwa, so does with the era of Kamen Rider. Therefore, as a fan of tokusatsu, i want to make the list of the best Kamen Rider series during the Heisei period.

April 2019 was the end of Heisei Kamen Riders. The period marked with the appearance of Kamen Rider Kuuga in 2000 and it ended with Kamen Rider Zi-O wich started to air in late 2018. With total 20 titles of the series, here i put 5 titles to be my favourite.

Kamen Rider W (or also read as Double) is taking a new concept to the Kamen Rider series which is very unique where it takes 2 people to transform into one Kamen Rider. Kamen Rider Double is a mystery, drama, comedy series. The series is smartly written with strong story narrative and lighthearted comedy and drama.

Kamen Rider Kabuto (2006)

Kamen Rider Kabuto

Kamen Rider Kabuto was released to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the franchise and featured insect motifs in its hero designs. Beyond that, the show followed a world that had been impacted by a meteor, bringing with it an alien race known as Worms. The Worms killed their victims and replace them in society, hoping to one day replace humanity as a whole.

Kamen Rider Kuuga (2000)

Kamen Rider Kuuga

Kuuga is the first Kamen Rider series in the Heisei period, and it is also the first Kamen Rider that was broadcasted after 10 years since the last Kamen Rider of Showa period. Kuuga presented a realistic view of the world with an active police force involved in the threat of monster attacks. The monsters in the series were an ancient race that had been revived and now sought to kill humans

Kamen Rider Wizard is also unique, not only using physical attack, he also uses magic and elemental power to defeat his enemy. The series follows magical creatures called ‘Phantom’ that gives human immense despairs.

The series took place in a world where the creatures known as Orphenochs had begun to emerge. Orphenochs were the next step in human evolution and presented as something that would one day replace humanity itself. The sci-fi/thriller series heavily focused on a trio of Orphenoch who were simply trying to make their way in the world in their newfound state of being.
