Pick List : Korean Drama of 2016
Welcome to The Pick List. This is the place where i write about the list of my favorite things according to a certain theme. This time the theme is “Korean Drama of 2016”. Listed below may not contain critically best dramas, because i pick them according to my personal taste.
Well, it’s already 7 months late to write about it now. But because i just started this category, i decide to write some pending stuffs from last year, including this one. So, here are my 3 favorite Korean Dramas, check them out.
The K2 (TVN)
The story is about Kim Je Ha (Ji Chang Wook), a hired bodyguard, who works for a tycoon lady named Choi Yoo Jin (Song Yoon Ah) and falls in love with a presidential candidate’s daughter whom he protects, Go An Na (Im Yoon Ah). Kim Je Ha is an ex-mercenary in the middle-east who holds grudge against another presidential candidate.
The K2 is a suspenseful, ambitious, and fascinating drama. The story is a combo of action, political drama, and romance. Even though the romance is a little bit short of expectation, but the action and the political drama genre are very well-packed together. This is like a modern day illustrative example of Korean’s historical drama where a political fight also means arms fight.
Yoo Hye Jung (Park Shin Hye) was a student with gangster personality. Due to many childhood scars, she shuts her heart. After meeting a good mentor named Hong Ji Hong (Kim Rae Won) who was her high-school teacher, she gradually changes. Then, they accidentally meet again as doctors in the same hospital.
Doctors or also called Doctor Crush is a lighthearted medical drama. The story is light, simple, and intriguing. It has a strong story and dialogue, but some comedic scenes make them lighter to be enjoyed. The drama is also simple because it does not have any sub-plot or old grandpa villain, the problems only revolve around love triangle, past wrongdoings acceptance, and understanding.
The story is about Kim Shin (Gong Yoo) a warrior from Goryeo Dynasty who is cursed with eternal life and became a mythical being. He lives in a house with a Grim Reaper (Lee Dong Wook), and a student named Ji Eun Tak (Kim Go Eun). To be free from his curse, he must find a human girl who can become his bride.
Goblin is a cohesive multi-genre drama, the drama is beautiful, captivating, and also intriguing. Everything from the story, the tone, the visual, and also the BGM are very well-blended. Sometimes it’s fun, beautiful, and warm, but sometimes it’s also dark, suspenseful, and heartbreaking.
So because i think there are also some good dramas which do not enter my list, here is three other dramas that became my favorite from 2016. Well, they can be my B version of the list.
Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim (SBS)
My Wife is Having an Affair This Week (JTBC)
Moonlight Drawn by The Clouds (KBS2)
